Greetings HOH faithful! Yes, I’m still alive and breathing…this blog, a little less so. But resuscitation is on the way! I’m shocked that it’s been almost exactly two whole freakin’ months since I last posted here. That’s incredible. Incredibly shameful. I apologize profusely to you, the reader (if indeed, any of you are left).
Here’s a brief summation of what’s been going on: Work, Life, Work, Marriage, Work, Baby and more Work. Yep. Pretty damn exciting, eh? Actually, marriage and Flannery have been and continue to be the joys of my life. It’s all the work that gets in the way of actually living. To be honest, I’m thankful for it, as I’ve been able to get a lot of freelance work to supplement my full time gig. Which is a big answer to prayer, as April doesn’t have to look for full time work. Her heart’s desire (and mine too) is to be able to stay at home and be a mom, so the more I can bring in to provide, the better.
Flannery is absolutely amazing. I’m stunned at how much love you have can for a little being who you’ve only known for about half a year. She is growing like a weed and continually surprises us and makes us laugh. She has realized what cups are for and any time that we’re holding her and take a drink of water, she reaches for it with her mouth wide open and her tongue roving back in forth in thirst. It’s awesome. She’s yet to say any words, but I think she’s getting close. She’s definitely very vocal in her own way.
Beyond that, some things beneath the surface may be stirring. April and I have been very restless for a while now and we both have the sense that God is moving and working. Not that He ever stopped, mind you. But sometimes His movements are like a shark: He’s constantly on the move, but unless that dorsal fin breaks the surface of the water, we might not always notice. I guess that’s where further communion and meditation with Him draws us…further and deeper into the waters that He inhabits.
So we’re not exactly sure where He’s leading us, but we’re excited nonetheless. April is starting to get into photography, which is awesome. I really want to get her a nice camera so she can start going to town with it. I’ve got some audio recording equipment on loan from the incomparable Mike Curran. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but I’m hoping to get to it over the holidays.
I’ve also been considering starting my first book. As much as I love writing and entertaining people through my written thoughts, I’ve never had many delusions of grandeur when it comes to writing a book. I guess that comes from a false sense of humility and also genuinely thinking that I would never have anything worthwhile to write about that could take up the space of an entire book. But that’s slowly changing and I have a few ideas that I’m tossing around.
And that’s about it…there’s some serious family stuff that’s been going on that I can’t share at this time. But please keep my immediate family (Dad, Mom and my sister) in your prayers, if you’re in the habit of regular communication with our Creator. We would appreciate it.
I’ll have more fun things to share in the days ahead, but suffice it to say that we’re back! I shall leave you with this gem from that storehouse of awesome, known commonly as YouTube.
YAY you are back!!! I always look out for new posts from you! By the way thank you so much for getting “Welcome Back, Kotter” into my head! I used to love watching that show! lol I will be singing it all day long now.
hahaha…yes! I do what I can. I love that show too. I need to track it down on DVD.
New reader. I enjoy your stuff, and hope you keep posting.
