I realize it's been awhile since anyone has posted on this entry and maybe even since you've been able to blog. :-) For any that are interested, I recently finished a project of transcribing one of my journals during my involvement with The Way's leadership training program which is known as the Way Corps. I was involved with The Way for 28 years, 1977 through 2005. I got involved when I was 18. Anyhoo, thought I'd leave a link to my blog, if any are interested. I understand if folks aren't. So yes, I will mix theology and musical tastes. The entirety of the CCM world has been doing that for years. Why is it an issue now? Additionally, "captain of our salvation" only shows up in the KJV, one of the worst translations of the original texts ever. Most people know that passage from Hebrews refers to Jesus as the author, perfecter or finisher of our faith. The way these guys are singing about it sounds like they're inviting us on board a cruise on the Love Boat. Finally, if you were to do any research at all about this group (a cult called The Way International), you'd find out that they have some utterly bizarre interpretations of the story of original sin and the Garden of Eden. This is taken from the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_International" rel="nofollow">Wikipedia page</a> on them: "Wierwille, in his class 'Christian Family and Sex,' taught the literal original sin of mankind was masturbation. He reasoned the Tree of Life from Genesis could be compared to verses where people were figuratively referred to as trees. He further compared the fruit of the tree of knowledge with the human genitalia, from whence human fruit, i.e, children, proceeds and came to the conclusion that Adam and Eve's sin was a sexual sin, masturbation. He supported his view with the statement 'they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons" in Genesis 3:7.'
